Minneapolis, MN — Independent artists took center stage Friday, September 11, as the Loudset Chicago Music Festival Showcase Competition came to Acadia in Minneapolis, bringing together emerging talent for a night of music, competition and opportunity.
Kaotic 1 of KMHP Digital Radio joined DJ Cam Jones on the judging panel, evaluating a lineup of independent artists competing for an opportunity to perform at the Loudset Chicago Music Festival.
A familiar presence in the Twin Cities music scene, DJ Cam Jones has spent years working as a DJ, producer and promoter while consistently supporting local and independent talent. His involvement in showcases, open mics and other events has helped create opportunities for artists to get in front of audiences and be heard.
The night delivered a close-knit showcase atmosphere that made the event feel almost exclusive. Rather than performers feeling separated from the room, the intimate setting kept the artists, judges and audience connected throughout the competition.
And the talent showed up.
Each artist brought their own style, sound and energy to the stage, making the judging process more than simply finding one standout performance. From beginning to end, the showcase highlighted independent artists putting their talent in front of a live audience and taking advantage of an opportunity to reach a bigger stage.
By the end of the night, four acts were selected as winners: Freeky B, Boy Fade & Dreyo, P Baby Me Baby, and CEO Huncho.
While the showcase originally advertised two available slots, the judging panel ultimately selected two additional winners based on several factors, including the level of talent displayed throughout the night.
