Minnesota MCs Link Up for “Single 4 The Summer” Remix

Five Minnesota MCs Join Forces for “Single 4 The Summer” Remix

Minnesota’s MCs in hip-hop are linking up for the “Single 4 The Summer Remix,” bringing local talent together for a new summer collaboration.

EssJay TheAfrocentricRatchet, Vina, Karson Blu, Lettrish Betrish, and Quita LaShae have joined forces for the “Single 4 The Summer” remix, bringing five women from Minnesota’s music scene together on one record. The collaboration began circulating locally ahead of an August 15 performance at the Black Entrepreneur State Fair in Minneapolis.

Five Minnesota Artists on One Record

What makes the remix interesting for the local scene isn’t simply another summer release—it’s the lineup.

EssJay is joined by Vina, Karson Blu, and Lettrish Betrish, Quita LaShae giving each artist space on a record centered around being single, outside and enjoying the summer.

Rather than reaching outside Minnesota for features, the collaboration keeps the spotlight at home and brings together women already making their own moves within the local music scene.

How the “Single 4 The Summer Remix” Came Together

Before becoming a five-artist collaboration, “Single 4 The Summer” arrived as an EssJay TheAfrocentricRatchet solo record.

The original runs just under two minutes and was released to streaming platforms in July.

Within weeks, the record had expanded into a local collaboration featuring four additional Minnesota artists.

That move gives the song a second life while also creating something we don’t see nearly enough of: several women from the same local hip-hop scene appearing together on one record.

Taking “Single 4 The Summer” to the Black State Fair

The collaboration didn’t stay online.

It was announced that the “Single 4 The Summer” crew would perform the remix live at the Black Entrepreneur State Fair on August 15, putting the record in front of a Minneapolis crowd just as the collaboration was being introduced.

The five Minnesota MCs brought the record to life onstage, giving the hometown crowd a live look at the energy behind the collaboration.

Minnesota Women Creating Their Own Moment

The Minnesota music scene isn’t built by one sound, one artist or one generation.

For KMHP Digital Radio, that’s exactly why covering Minnesota music matters.

National releases will always dominate timelines and playlists, but some of the most interesting stories can be happening right down the street.

“Single 4 The Summer” puts five Minnesota women on the same record—and gives the local scene another collaboration to talk about before summer is over.
