The Weekday Cook Up is bringing a different kind of hip-hop and R&B radio show to the Twin Cities. Hosted by Kaotic 1, the live weekday show airs Monday through Friday from 6–8 PM CST on KMHP Digital Radio, mixing music, entertainment, conversation and audience interaction.
While listeners can hear hip-hop and R&B throughout the day on KMHP, The Weekday Cook Up puts the personality of live radio front and center. Kaotic 1 moves between music, celebrity stories, debates and original segments while giving listeners a chance to call in, text and become part of the show.
For people searching for Twin Cities hip-hop radio with more than a playlist, The Weekday Cook Up gives listeners a reason to come back every weekday.
More Than Just Hip-Hop & R&B Music
Streaming has made it easy to hear almost any song at any time. The Weekday Cook Up is built around something a playlist can’t provide: a live host, conversation and interaction.
Instead of running long blocks of music, Kaotic 1 stays active throughout the show. Music remains a major part of the format, but the show moves between songs, commentary and recurring features.
That combination gives Twin Cities listeners another option for hip-hop and R&B radio while keeping the personality and unpredictability of live radio in the mix.
Who Is Kaotic 1?

Long before becoming the voice behind The Weekday Cook Up, Kaotic 1 was known in the Minneapolis hip-hop scene as Kaos. His recording career dates back to the mid-1990s, when he emerged as one of the early Minneapolis rappers to build a significant local presence. His catalog from that era includes the 1996 release And It Don’t Stop, followed by Hustlers Convention in 1998 and Multiplicity Vol. 1 in 1999.
During his years as a recording artist, Kaos received radio play on KMOJ and built his name through live performances throughout the Twin Cities. His career also put him on concert stages opening for nationally known hip-hop artists, including DMX and Cam’ron, among many others.
Eventually, his role in music began shifting from performing to working behind the scenes. After stepping away from actively pursuing rap, he launched Platinum Boy Muzik, working with and releasing music from other artists.
Radio became the next chapter. Through his longtime friend and partner DJ Grady Baby in Atlanta, Kaotic 1 began broadcasting The Weekend Cook Up across several stations DJ Grady Baby was programming. That experience eventually sparked a bigger idea: create an independent broadcasting platform based in Minnesota.
Kaotic 1 later joined forces with Jose Harris and Rich Adelson to form KMHP Digital Broadcasting LLC, creating the foundation for what would become KMHP Digital Radio.
Today, The Weekday Cook Up represents another chapter in that journey. Kaotic 1 brings decades of firsthand experience in hip-hop—as an artist, performer, label owner, broadcaster and independent media founder—to a live radio show built around music, culture, conversation and the audience.
What’s on The Weekday Cook Up?

Each show can take a different direction depending on what’s happening in music and entertainment.
Kaotic 1 Celebrity Story brings a major entertainment or hip-hop story into the show for Kaotic 1’s take and listener reaction.
The L Report looks at somebody who earned the “L” of the week—or the night—and lets the audience weigh in.
This or That puts music, culture and everyday debates head-to-head, while Thought of the Day gives listeners something to think about beyond the headlines.
The show also makes room for Lovers Lounge, Exclusive New Music, Kaotic 1 on 1, Independent Spotlight and ticket giveaways.
Most importantly, listeners don’t have to sit on the sidelines. They can call in or text and interact with Kaotic 1 during the show.
Supporting Independent and Minnesota Artists
The Weekday Cook Up also gives independent music a place within the format.
Through Independent Spotlight and other music features, KMHP Digital Radio can introduce listeners to artists outside of the biggest mainstream releases, including talent from Minnesota and the Twin Cities.
That local connection is part of KMHP’s larger commitment to covering Minnesota music, artists, events and culture.
Twin Cities Hip-Hop & R&B Gets a Live Weekday Show

Listeners searching for a Minneapolis hip-hop radio station, R&B radio in the Twin Cities or simply somewhere different to hear music and conversation can listen to KMHP Digital Radio online.
